“The Empire’s building a weapon (*dramatic pause*) capable of destroying an entire planet. They call it the Death Star. We need to capture the plans if there’s any hope of destroying it.” So says Jyn Erso to Mon Mothma and all interested, attending members of the Rebellion in this, the final trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
There’s a heck of a lot more action going in this particular Rogue One trailer, with a few moments of unexpected levity amidst the mostly dire struggle between a desperate Rebellion and a vastly superior force armed with palm tree-killing AT-ATs. Yep.
Tiras’ favorite new scene? When K-2SO intercepts a recently hurled grenade and lobs it casually behind him into an approaching contingent of Stormtroopers. And nope, his phrasing doesn’t waver at all while redirecting incendiary devices meant to stifle especially agitated enemies of the Imperial, galactic state!
Rogue One will feature Darth Vader (YES!), and actually flesh out the story expressed briefly in the prefatory, upwards-scrolling ‘crawl’ preceding 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope. I mean, the story is kind of a big deal, considering the procurement of these plans allowed Skywalker to Force-dunk a ‘bleeping’ torpedo down a vent which impacted the station’s core and resulted in, well, a rather large ‘bleeping’ explosion.
Star Wars: Rogue One arrives December 16th, 2016 and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Jiang Wen, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Jonathan Aris and 10,000,000 Stormtroopers hellbent on killing everyone everywhere.
