We're not done yet!

The Marvel universe just continues to expand. Doctor Strange has officially entered the MCU, and soon others like Captain Marvel will get in on the action. However, one group was seemingly kicked to the curb and lost their spot in the upcoming Infinity War: The Inhumans.

Since 2011, a movie based upon the Terrigen-fueled, super-human/alien hybrid race was rumored to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future. It was only two years ago when, during a panel, Kevin Feige announced Inhumans would be released in November 2018 as part of Phase 3. Then the movie was delayed until 2019… until, sadly, it was shelved indefinitely.

Coming Soon… maybe… possibly… probably!?!

We aren’t going anywhere!

Now, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. As part of his campaigning for Doctor Strange, Marvel Studios President Kevin Fiege fielded questions regarding every Marvel property. It was SlashFilm who got the man in charge to share some surprising updates update regarding a potential Inhumans movie.

“I think Inhumans will happen for sure. I don’t know when. I think it’s happening on television. And I think as we get into Phase 4 as I’ve always said, it could happen as a movie. I think it would be super cool.”

Sure, that’s not exactly a confirmation, but it’s the closest Feige will get to spilling the beans until an official announcement. Inhumans have been a major part of Marvel’s television properties, serving as allies and antagonists in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. That presence has yet to translate to the big screen in any way, shape or form. Now might be the time.

We’re movie stars… not TV stars!

While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. introduced the MCU to Terrigen (the Kree compound that turns humans into Inhumans), it has yet to introduce the most important part of Inhuman story… the Royal Family. Medusa, Karnak, Gorgon, Triton, and of course, their king Black Bolt have yet to have their moment in the sun. Marvel can use Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to show there are Inhumans in the world, and them have that story flow into a movie, where the Royal Family unites the super-powered individuals as an army of their own.

The best part is the multiple roles The Inhumans can play within the MCU. They don’t have to be true, traditional heroes, but can become Marvel’s version of The Suicide Squad. Throughout Phase 4, The Inhumans can flow throughout every other Marvel movie, leading to the eventual Avengers 4, which can depict the Avengers vs. Inhumans.

Sure, an Inhumans solo movie would show them behaving heroically, but who says they can’t tow the line as both good guys and anti-heroes. The Inhumans live by their own laws. Perhaps their code won’t coincide with rules set forth by The Avengers; think Civil War, but on a bigger scale.

Perhaps the Avengers could use some extra muscle… and a booming voice!!!

So, when could we possibly see an Inhuman on the big screen? The best option would be in Infinity War. Now, there have been rumblings that the secret group The Illuminati will show up eventually in the MCU. Well, why not have the group be a four-man operation between Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Black Panther and… Black Bolt! He has been an active member in the comics, so let it translate to the silver screen. Plus, Vin Diesel has long been rumored for the role of Black Bolt, and he stated he’lll be in Infinity War. Perhaps this is the role he was talking about, and not doing mo-cap for Groot. Food for thought.

In the end, the only person who knows if The Inhumans will be turning up is Kevin Feige and his brain trust. Should the Royal Family be coming to Phase 4, getting them introduced in the next two Avengers outings should be a must. For too long Black Bolt and the rest of The Inhumans have been tossed on the back burner. If Marvel is going to give them a shot, bring them on board in a big way and let everyone know that The Inhumans have their place in the MCU.
