Route 29 Batman Killed in Car Accident

We were saddened to read that the Route 29 Batman was killed on August 16th in Maryland, as he was parked on the side of Interstate 70 near Hagerstown, Md. checking on his Batmobile, according to the Washington Post. Yes, that’s correct, he drove a Batmobile. Lenny B. Robinson was not an ordinary man but one who dressed up like Batman and drove a Batmobile to put smiles on the faces of children.

He often visited hospitals, handed out paraphernalia and gave autographs, warming the hearts of the people he interacted with.

Unfortunately, on Sunday night, after he stopped at a nearby gas station, his Batmobile was experiencing engine trouble and he had to pull over on the side of the passing lane. A passing vehicle hit his car which was then propelled into his body killing him instantly.

He is survived by his three sons, parents, siblings and nieces.

Robinson’s funeral will be at noon Wednesday August 19th 2015 in Owings Mills, Md., at the Har Sinai Congregation, 2905 Walnut Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations be made to Superheroes for Kids, c/o Marilyn Richardson of Sinai Hospital, 2401 W. Belvedere Ave., Baltimore, MD 21215.
