Civil War is Set to Be Biggest Marvel Open Ever
I’m sure this news makes Marvel and Disney executives happy! Captain America: Civil War is set to be the biggest Marvel open ever according to Fandango. Presales are often a good indicator of how well a movie will perform and let’s just say that Captain America: Civil War is currently crushing it! Civil War is outselling all other giant Marvel tentpoles at the same point completely dominating Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Winter Soldier. Catapulted by good earlier reviews, Fandango also says that Civil War is listed as their most anticipated film according to a survey. That same survey then lists Independence Day 2, Jason Bourne, X-Men Apocalypse, and Suicide Squad in that order. I’m kind of surprised at that Independence Day 2!
Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis stated, “According to our survey, fans will be spending more time at the multiplex this summer. Last year’s record-breaking movie line-up has inspired fans to return to theaters, and this summer there is truly something for everyone. The season kicks off in May with Marvel’s best movie yet, Captain America: Civil War, while Finding Dory will catch the family audience in June, a fresh, female-driven Ghostbusters will attract comedy fans in July, and the Suicide Squad is sure to generate a lot of love for the supervillains in August.” So there you have it…Civil War is set to be the biggest Marvel open yet! The film opens up on May 6th, 2016 and stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Tom Holland, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, and Daniel Brühl.
