Daniel Fleetwood, Star Wars Super Fan, Has Passed Away
The Force got a little bit brighter today. Daniel Fleetwood, the Star Wars super fan diagnosed with an extremely rare condition known as spindle cell sarcoma, died today at the age of 32.
He was diagnosed in July with two months to live and fought for an extra two. You may be familiar with the name as the person who got a chance to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens as his final wish using the power of the hashtag, #ForceForDaniel. Celebrities like Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, and Daisy Ridley all threw in their collective power and Daniel Fleetwood got a chance to see an unfinished version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Needless to say, both Daniel and Ashley were thoroughly impressed with the movie.
Ashley Fleetwood, Daniel’s wife, posted this heartfelt message to Facebook this morning.
“Daniel put up an amazing fight to the very end. He is now one with God and with the force. He passed in his sleep and in peace. He will always be my idol and my hero. Please hug Uncle Marc for me and give Lucy lots of kisses. Rest in peace, my love. This was the last selfie we ever took together.” Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Fleetwood family.
