Marvel Has Spider-Man Creative Control
“Well, I’ve known all those people for a very long time,” Kevin Feige said of his good friends/co-workers over at Sony. If you happen to be living underneath a rock, Spider-Man has had a home at Sony ever since the Marvel bankruptcy of the 1990s, but recently Sony has buried the hatchet and now both Marvel and Sony are working together in bringing Spider-Man to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe. You may have noticed the Wall-Crawler appearing in Captain America: Civil War but that is just the first step in rolling the Webhead into the fold. With the latest Spider-Man movie being announced, how much control would Marvel exert? Well, it looks like Marvel has Spider-Man under complete creative control!
“Amy Pascal, Tom Rothman, who runs Sony now, I’ve known for years,” said Feige. “So, it’s been great. They really are supportive in allowing us to make the creative decisions to make [Spider-Man: Homecoming], but they’ve been great partners. So far so good on that movie.” So I guess that means for all intents and purposes that Spider-Man: Homecoming will be a Marvel movie! It is so nice that Marvel has Spider-Man back in house, don’t you think? It will be interesting to see where they take the character!
Captain America: Civil War hits the US on May 6th, 2016 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Tom Holland, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, and Daniel Brühl.
