Miles Morales vs. Peter Parker: Who Would Win?
“Alright, let’s do this one last time. My name is Peter Parker. I was bitten by a radioactive spider. And for ten years, I’ve been the one and only Spider-Man. I’m pretty sure you know the rest.” – Peter Parker, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse
While we’re all more than happy to have too many Spideys in one place, we thought it would be fun to pit two of the most popular ones against each other. After all, now that the rumor mill is churning out all sorts of wonderful news about the different past Spider-Men (Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland in one film? Yes, please!) making an appearance in upcoming films, it only makes sense that all this hype pokes at our curiosity.
So, we asked ourselves, who would win in a fight: Peter Parker or Miles Morales?
It’s all hypothetical, but if these two powerhouses were pit against each other (or someone was mind-controlled, because comics), it’s important to know that Miles has a slightly different DNA makeup. Thanks to Norman Osborne successfully replicating a similar spider that bit Peter and eventually bit Miles, the kiddo can turn invisible, while Peter can’t (if you’ve seen Into The Spider-Verse, you know exactly what we’re talking about). He can also throw a mean “venom blast” that petrifies opponents.
But what Peter lacks in raw firepower he makes up for in his technical and scientific knowledge. He’s done more for the scientific community and the academe than Miles ever has, and it’s not just about those web-shooters. It’s the very “Peter” side of him that really shines here.
Obviously, when it comes to personality, it’s pretty much a tie. Both web-slingers are charming, lovable, and just downright good-hearted, and it’s really not fair to pick who’s the nicer guy. They’re both champions of the “neighborhood”, and both really excel when it comes to embodying the spirit of “with great power, comes great responsibility”.
The victor is still pretty unclear at this point, but what does Peter have that ultimately makes him triumph over Miles in the end, at least, in our opinion?
At the risk of playing the age card, we just have to say that Peter trumps Miles when it comes to the sheer volume of experience. Simply said, he’s just been in the field much, much longer—and there’s simply no substitute for proper crimefighting experience. He’s tackled everything from gods to interdimensional beings; plus, knowing how to deal with villains isn’t just about who’s got a meaner right hook. You also have to be able to anticipate moves based on how well you know how the villain is thinking, and Peter’s got a long history with each of the members of his rogues gallery.
So, the winner of our fun little contest is none other than the original Spidey, Peter Parker (Mary Jane will definitely agree with our top pick). If you totally disagree, let us know your violent reactions in the comments below—or better yet, why don’t we all just celebrate the fact that deep down, we love them both equally, anyway?
