Sebastian Stan Is Back for Avengers: Infinity War!
According to a very small blurb in an article regarding Sebastian Stan’s involvement in the forthcoming film, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, it appears The Winter Soldier will exit his self-imposed cryogenic freeze and rejoin whatever passes for the Avengers when Infinity War hits theaters in 2018.
When last we saw James “Bucky” Barnes, he resided in Wakanda along with Steve Rogers’ band of roguish Avengers. Due to his always volatile mindset thanks to decades of forced, subliminal programming, Bucky, aka The Winter Soldier, considered himself a clear and perpetual danger, a threat that could be mitigated via cryostasis until effective mental countermeasures could heal the broken solider.
Our hope was to see Bucky reemerge during 2017’s Black Panther film. Sure, he might not actually do anything, but maybe we’ll get a post-credits scene where Panther resuscitates the troubled, cybernetically-limbed lad in time to rally the troops and fight the looming hell raining down from outer space. Of course, the other option is, he’s not mentioned at all and his “awakening” occurs somewhere during the beginning of Infinity War.
Here’s an interesting takeaway:
We Have Always Lived in the Castle begins filming in Dublin this month. Infinity War begins shooting this November, and Black Panther doesn’t start shooting until early 2017. The average, non-blockbuster film usually takes about 10-12 weeks to film, meaning Stan has PLENTY of time to star in Infinity War AND Black Panther….if he doesn’t take any bathroom breaks.
Oh, and if Panther chooses NOT to wake him up early, this is probably why (and yes, I know they’re moderately tolerant of each other now).
