Snyder Defends MoS; Star Wars Kills More?
Oh that Zack Snyder…so proud of his work! I’m sure you’ve seen the controversial director time and time again stand up and explain how Man of Steel‘s level of destruction was totally necessary and he doesn’t understand why people have been so up in arms about Man of Steel. Regarding the backlash and DC Comics’ flagship character, Snyder defends MoS by saying, “There’s no time to ask permission when someone is falling off a skyscraper, or there’s no time to ask permission when the White House is exploding. You got to act. He’s the first responder in a lot of ways. He’s the first responder who gets sued by the guy he saves.” That certainly makes sense; from the trailers we’ve seen for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice we see that the Last Son of Krypton is called before Congress to answer for his actions. He freaking protects humanity from total annihilation and people want to slap his wrists!
The director then went on to mention Star Wars: The Force Awakens in his defense, “I went, really? And I said, well, what about [‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’]? In Star Wars they destroy five planets with billions of people on them. That’s gotta be one of the highest death toll movies in history, the new Star Wars movie, if you just do the math.” I sometimes wonder if Zack Snyder realizes what he’s saying or if he’s just a wonderful troll; I think I tend to lean towards the latter after watching Sucker Punch. Snyder is probably technically correct but I don’t think that is the best way to go about a reasonable defense for Man of Steel. I was hoping Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice would do that!
