Steve Rogers and Conflict in Captain America: Civil War
Steve Rogers might have some trust issues. First he finds a girl he really likes, gets a date, and then ends up in a giant block of ice. Then he gets thawed out and finds out SHIELD is using HYDRA technology…and then later that SHIELD is mostly HYDRA. How the hell did that end up happening? At least he can trust Tony Stark…oh wait, never mind…that dude just made a killer robot that almost destroyed the world. At least we get to look forward to seeing Steve Rogers and conflict resolution in Captain America: Civil War! He has quite a few loose ends, doesn’t he? He should probably just get them some stuff from here and everything will be alright.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige made this comment regarding Steve Rogers and his conflict. “We’ve seen [the conflict] coming. The clues were there. When you watch the other films you see how Captain America and Iron Man fight the bad guys together, back-to-back, but they have differences. And there is something that happens in the world that divides them.”
Chris Evan then added, “It’s exciting to see a guy who’s as optimistic and as selfless as Steve be met with letdown, betrayal, frustration, and selfishness. There are events and people in his life that test him — that challenge him and force him to reevaluate who he is and what he wants out of life. Even though there are a lot characters, the focus is on Steve and his struggle. Especially his struggle with Tony Stark.”
