Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice just introduced us to the DCEU versions of Batman and Wonder Woman, and re-introduced us to sullen Superman. But…that’s not all. Nope. Batman V Superman is also the filmic keystone upon which the newly expanded DC Movie Universe now resides and, as the keystone, is responsible for building copious, additional narrative structures related to additional DC characters. Basically, what I’m telling you is this: Batman V Superman laid the foundation for a shared DC universe allowing classic DC characters their chance to shine upon the new cinematic stage. Which particular characters? Why, that would be the Justice League, of course. But introducing the Justice League begets the following question: which members of the Justice League (there are quite a few to choose from)? In a recent interview with our friends at IGN, Batman V Superman director Zack Snyder explains his Justice League roster:
“I thought long and hard about who to bring in — who the Justice League would be made of. It was really to me like those were the heavy-hitters — right now. Of course there is room for some more. And I absolutely had to save, keep some back, for the next shock of awesomeness. But those guys felt like the guys that needed to surface.”
Honestly, I’m all for Cyborg, Aquaman, Flash, Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman. AND, eventually, Green Lantern.
