Netflix's Luke Cage Might Tie Into Captain America: Civil War!

Yes, we knew that the Marvel Cinematic Universe was all encompassing, including the events of Marvel’s television exploits, but we were reminded of this through very brief, barely referenced connections. Yes, Earth-shattering events from the filmic aspects of Marvel’s shared universe trickled down and received a mention or 3 on various Marvel TV endeavors, but that’s pretty much where the connection ended. Besides Agent Coulson and Lady Sif, no actual characters traversed the celluloid borders, crossing over from TV to film or vice-versa. Well, according to our friends at ComicBook.com, this glaring lack of character-sharing might finally be over. Disney provided a very informative list of actors appearing at the Captain America: Civil War world premiere next week, and due the contents of said list, it appears Netflix’s Luke Cage might tie into Captain America: Civil War!

Wait…WHAT? Well, let’s take a look at that guest list.

Alfre Woodard will be attending the Captain America: Civil War world premiere; she’ll be playing New York politician Mariah Dillard in Netflix’s forthcoming Marvel series, Luke Cage. It’s also worth noting that Mariah Dillard might also go by the name “Black Mariah,” a classic Luke Cage foe who tested the hero in many classic comic stories.

Also attending are Mike Colter (Luke Cage) as well as cast members from Daredevil and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD; officially, they’re all listed as “Special Guests.” Hmmmm. Very, very interesting.

Does their attendance guarantee their appearance in the actual Civil War film? No, but it strongly implies involvement.

Civil War is a storyline that involves the entire Marvel Universe, so its ramifications absolutely need to be felt EVERYWHERE!

Captain America: Civil War debuts May 6, 2016, starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, and Martin Freeman.
