Aw, poor Deadpool! You spent all of that time getting an impressive and character-representative ‘R’ rating for your film and now you can’t release in China! I’m sure you are probably all sorts of pleased with yourself and I don’t think I wouldn’t expect anything different from the Merc with a Mouth. Apparently, the censors don’t even feel like they can edit it enough to get it approved for the market in China. I guess that’s kinda good news…kinda?
The Hollywood Reporter…um…reports that the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (which is the Chinese state media outlet and should probably talk to Agent Coulson about acronyms), ‘has denied {Deadpool} permission to screen in China due to its violence, nudity and graphic language’. Not all that surprising come to think of it; the freakin’ trailer for Deadpool is rated ‘R’ so what does that tell you? Deadpool is certainly a gambit with being one of the few ‘R’ rated superhero movies out there; will that hurt or help the movie? Age of Ultron scored over 240 million dollars while even Ant-Man made over 105.4 million dollars.
Deadpool is scheduled for release on February 12, 2016 (which is right around the corner so you might want to start getting excited) and stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, and Leslie Uggams.
