“You can’t believe everything you read,” said Jai Courtney, better known as Captain Boomerang in the upcoming Suicide Squad flick. Earlier, rumors pointed to Suicide Squad reshoots and due to the rather grim reception of Batman V Superman, many people believed that they were reshooting aspects of David Ayer’s film in order to inject some humor. However, Captain Boomerang did confirm that they were having reshoots but they were fleshing out additional action scenes, not humor!
“I think there’s plenty of that (humor) in it,” said Jai Courtney. “I wouldn’t say we’re going back to make it funnier. There’s some additional action stuff that we’ve been doing which is pretty dope, really we’re just kind of adding in that sense.” Well, that’s certainly reassuring regarding the Suicide Squad reshoots! I feel like the tone has already been established by the trailers; it may be a dark movie but at least it has been reinforced with some good old fashioned gallows humor! Suicide Squad opens up August 5th, 2016 and stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, and Scott Eastwood. I guess the rumors of WB’s knee-jerk panic attacks have been greatly exaggerated. Hopefully they knock it out of the park…DC and WB could definitely use it!
