Yep, you heard it (technically, you read it) right; according to our good friends at The Wrap, a source “confirmed” that a Man of Steel sequel is absolutely a priority for Warner Bros.; they realize it’s integral to portray the character accurately for audiences disappointed by Superman’s dour temperament in 2013’s Man of Steel, and this year’s recent, hard to swallow superhero slugfest, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
When Man of Steel debuted to tepid reactions from critical media outlets, Warner Brothers still expressed interest in producing a sequel, stating in a 2014 press release that standalone Batman and Superman films would fill out a list of 10 other DC films including Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman, Cyborg, Green, Lantern, etc.
However, the sequel never happened as DC lined up directors, actors, and began production on Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman and The Flash. Heck, Ben Affleck’s Batman film was put on the fast track; there’s a script already in the works, awaiting ‘big Ben’s’ final approval.
So, if the source is accurate, when might Man of Steel 2 hit the big screen? Well, Warner Bros. has 2 DC movies scheduled Oct. 5, 2018 and Nov. 1, 2019 respectively, but they’re currently untitled. Once again, the source intimated the Batman film would arrive in theaters before Man of Steel 2, so….could November 1st, 2019 grant us our second, standalone Superman film under the DCCU umbrella that, arguably, absorbs more rainfall than it deflects?
