HBO has been able to draw us in with high production values and a combination of violence and nudity. True Blood, The Leftovers, Game of Thrones, and The Sopranos are just a few shows from the mythic channel that follow this formula. However, most of us have been experiencing a rather acute withdrawal since the season finale of Game of Thrones. What can we possibly do until the show returns? HBO…any answers for us? Oh, you guys have a new show and the NSFW Westworld trailer should get us on board? Groovy!
Based on the film written and directed by Michael Crichton, Westworld follows a rather unique amusement park. This particular amusement park is broken down into different sections: there is one for the American Wild West, for for medieval Europe, and one for ancient Rome. Of course if you follow the events of the new NSFW Westworld trailer then it appears as if the first season will focus on the western aspect of it!
The original Westworld was released back in the 1970s and starred Yul Brynner and James Brolin. In typical Michael Crichton fashion (he wrote Jurassic Park), the amusement park breaks down and the robots who populate it start behaving erratically…which may or may not involve people getting killed and robots believing themselves to be alive. Sounds like a pretty good HBO show, eh?
Westworld hopefully blows our collective minds on October 2nd, 2017 and stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newon, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Luke Hemsworth, and Clifton Collins Junior.
