On May 27th, the all-powerful, historically prevalent progenitor of Mutanity, Apocalypse, wakes up in the “modern age” (1983) and is absolutely appalled by what he sees. What does the very first mutant find so appalling? Why, that would be a world rife with sin, chaos, and the supplanting of – and intolerance for – his uniquely gifted descendants. What is Apocalypse going to do about a world he’s instinctively unfond of? Firstly, he’s going to raze it, and then he’s going to rule it alongside those deemed worthy and similarly powered. This sounds like a prodigious undertaking by a sole mutant, but thanks to this newly released History of Apocalypse Featurette, the extent and nature of Apocalypse’s powers are finally revealed!
According to X-Men: Apocalypse director, Bryan Singer, and actor James McAvoy (Professor X), Apocalypse is explained thusly:
Singer begins with, “Apocalypse was born millennia ago, and he brought civilization to mankind. But in turn, believed he was a god.”
James McAvoy added, “Apocalypse has rejuvenated himself throughout history by taking the body of another mutant.”
Singer continues, “And with each mutant he takes their powers, so he’s acquired, over thousands of years, multiple powers.”
Yeah, the X-Men are $###ing screwed.
X-Men Apocalypse starts May 27th, 2016 and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn, and Lucas Till. It also stars Hugh Jackman for at least 48 seconds.
