Suicide Squad Creator talks Critics
Harley Quinn, Katana, Boomerang, Rick Flag, Killer Croc, and Deadshot

Life is about balance. You know…like after eating that double cheeseburger meal from that fast food joint up the street you go for a walk (to play Pokemon Go). BALANCE! Ahem. So with all of those negative reviews floating around regarding David Ayer and DC Comics’ latest movie, where is the balance to that? How about John Ostrander, the Suicide Squad creator! Surely he’ll have a fair and balanced approach to the movie, no?

“I really liked the film. Not perfect by a long shot, but a really good time in the movie theater. And for me a lot of it was just amazing. The look, the detail, the feel of the film is not something I’ve seen in superhero movies before,” John Ostrander stated. At least he’s being somewhat pragmatic about it. He’s not telling us it is the best movie ever…just that he was pleased by it! Probably better than Alan Moore’s response to any of his movies, right?

The Suicide Squad creator continued, “Look, I get it – they [critics] have to see all the films out there and they must be tired of all the blockbusters. If every superhero film is not The Dark Knight, they’ll bitch. I think that’s going on here to a certain degree. Just as I came prepared to love the movie, they came prepared to hate it.” Here’s that balance I was talking about.

Either way, it doesn’t look like the critics had much of an effect on the opening of Suicide Squad which took in over 267 million dollars world wide! Suicide Squad is out now and stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adam Beach, Karen Fukuhara, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood and Cara Delevingne.
