The 2016 Oscar Nominations are in and it looks like Star Wars: The Force Awakens will not have a chance at winning the Academy Award for Best picture.  No worries, they have already made a pretty penny and will most likely end up as the highest grossing film of all time. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself. The Force Awakens has five nominations which is the most since Return of the Jedi and is the same amount of nominations that all of the prequel films received… COMBINED. Star Wars has tied The Lord of the Rings for the most nominations in a series with 30.  The best Star Wars film is the 1977 original, A New Hope, which had 11 nominations and seven wins. Composer John Williams, known for writing the score for every Star Wars movie, has 50 career nominations as of this year.  That is more than any other film, series or person ever. Well done John, well done indeed. This year, The Revenant will have the most nominations with a whopping 12 including Best Actor, Picture and Director.
Everyone’s attention will be on whether or not Leonardo DiCaprio will finally score his first Oscar in a very impressive career.  I think that he should have won an Oscar for this performance alone (Viewer Discretion Advised):
