Our well informed friends at the Idle Hands toy blog came across something that might reveal a little bit more about the forthcoming DC/Warner Brothers film, Batman V Superman. Recently, respectable news sources such as ourselves have been pervasively reporting the existence of additional foils beyond the introduction of Doomsday. So, who might DC’s brand new filmic trinity – Batman, Superman and the newly introduced Wonder Woman – be mixing it up with if Doomsday isn’t the final, unfriendly baddie? Rumors point to the inclusion of Darkseid as the trinity’s final, potential tormentor, but this particular Mattel Toys Batman v Superman action figure pack implies someone else; a fully armored Lex Luthor!
Lex Luthor has been donning the green and purple battle armor in the pages of countless DC comics for years and years and…many more years after that. Yes, he detests all of super-humanity, but realizes it takes a little more than intellect to compete with the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, etc. As clever and as intelligent as Lex Luthor is (or claims to me), a brilliant thought can never effectively throw a car at Superman.
So, yes, this toy very strongly implies a Lex Luthor armoring-up in his classically colored exo-suit. Something worth noting regarding Luthor’s armor: it features a helmet. Lex Luthor’s suit in the comic books never included a visible helmet, a fact he proudly proclaimed as one unafraid to maintain his public identity.
Now, I know toys based on films aren’t always film-accurate. Just think about the many different iterations of Captain America figures launching water cannons, or Spider-Man figures donning somewhat ostentatious scuba gear. Sure, these toys take their cue from the movies, but go in their own…uh…interesting directions. Basically, I’m telling you this Batman V Superman action figure pack could be just that, something based on the film, but not actually occurring in the film. However, if an armored Lex Luthor DOES appear in the film…

Debuting March 25, 2016, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams and Laurence Fishburne. Oh, and probably a lot of unhappy citizens caught in the crossfire when Superman and Batman indulge in a pee-pee contest.
