Cha-Ching! Who would have thought that superheroes facing off against each other could be such a movie theater draw. Joking aside, Captain America: Civil War has put forward some pretty impressive numbers with the latest release in the United States. Civil War’s weekend total in the United States came in at a massive 181 million dollars which puts it ahead of Iron Man 3‘s opening of 174.1 million (domestically). Civil War’s weekend total globally is something to the tune of 401 million dollars with the 181 million domestic and the 220 million from international markets. These numbers represent the 5th best opening ever and now means that Marvel has 4 out of the 6 biggest weekends ever. Not all that surprising considering Civil War is sitting close to 700 million dollars total. Analysts are projecting a 1-1.5 billion dollars haul when it is all said and done! Of course that could always be higher – positive word of mouth can do wonders for a movie!
Captain America: Civil War stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Tom Holland, Frank Grillo, William Hurt and Daniel Brühl. With this kind of success, we all get to look forward to the Russo Brothers’ take on the Infinity Wars!
