Yes, X-Men: Apocalypse takes place in the 1980s, specifically 1983. Because of this, the promotional folks behind the forthcoming X-Film are taking complete advantage of the unique, cultural aesthetic of a decade that granted us feathered hair, neon cut-off shirts, and white, oversized dress jackets worn with sleeves pushed up just below the elbow. And then there was the music, that sweet, electronic dribbling underneath glassy string phrases cycling on albums sleeved in chunky, torn, neon swatches. I’m a huge fan of 80s music, the albums related to said music, the album covers covering said albums…and so are “The Children of the 80s Atom.” So, hold onto that gooey nostalgia churning in your woozy guts as the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse parodies classic 80s album covers!
