Hulk Says Thor 3 Is A ‘Roadtrip’ Movie

Thor: Ragnarok is shaping up to be a slight departure in tone from the previous two installments. How so? Well, apparently there will be a fair amount of comedy and a ‘buddy’ dynamic featured prominently in Thor 3. I suppose there is never enough Hulk-and-Thor throw-downs and we all love that. One would think that Thor would be a bit more of a fight than Iron Man when it comes to the ‘punch-face’ contest but I could be mistaken.

While out promoting his latest movie, Mark Ruffalo spoke on what kind of movie we might expect from Thor 3. “There’s a little bit of Midnight Run, with [Charles] Grodin and [Robert] De Niro,” Ruffalo said to the magazine Empire. “I feel like that’s kind of where we’re heading with this relationship between Thor and Banner. It is a universal road movie – that’s where we’re heading. It’s not where you’d think it will be, so it’s not your classic road movie but it has that structure, I think.” Universal road movie? Isn’t that the rainbow level in Mario Kart 64? I wonder how Thor would handle a blue-spike shell? At least we’ll get to see plenty of interesting and fantastic concepts from the Marvel design department.

Ruffalo also continued to speak on the interaction between him and Chris Hemsworth. They had such a strong bond that the writing and script shifted to cater for the banter. “I love Chris [Hemsworth], and it’s not an accident that we’ve been put together because we have a good time together and we goof off. The fact that we’re moving towards the smart-comedic bent plays into our relationship.” It will certainly be entertaining to see what director Taika Waititi will be able to do! Oh, and Loki is also back so you really can’t go wrong with that.
