There are two groups of people in this world. One that has seen Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four and those that listened to the critics. Or perhaps more honestly Josh Trank’s Tweet about his own movie. C’est la vie! There was a lot of promise for the Fantastic Four reboot. It had a true fan director. It had a good cast involving people like Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan. It had some interesting ideas but somewhere along the line…things got a little murky.
After being critically savaged and economically deserted, Fantastic Four of 2015 went down as ‘one of the worst movies’ in history and earned a fair amount of Golden Razzies. You know…the award ceremony for the worst of the worst movies? Exactly! Of the star-studded cast, Miles Teller recently spoke in an exclusive interview with JoBlo regarding his latest movie, but of course the cursed movie came up.
Speaking on whether or not he would ever return to playing the leader of the Fantastic Four, Reed Richards, Teller said, “Yeah, for sure. I loved the cast, I loved the characters. I think it’s such an interesting dynamic. I love how much they really need to rely on each other. This Avengers thing, they’ve kind of created their own Fantastic Four in a way, Marvel’s first family. Their powers can’t just exist on their own, you need Thor to do this, the Hulk to do his thing. So yeah, absolutely, I would do another one.” Sounds like he is still thinking about the franchise potential of Marvel’s First Family! As long as they would avoid a Galactus smoke monster we should be alright.
“Obviously you learn more as you go on; for me I’ve really enjoyed the fact that I’ve been able to work in pretty much every genre,” Teller said on whether or not Fantastic Four‘s reception soured him to comic book movies. “There’s a lot of different factors you’re going to take into account. I think script is super important, and director. The director is going to be the most powerful person in terms of what that final product is.”
Miles Teller continued, “I think certain things you can get sort of disenfranchised with a little bit. But I wouldn’t change anything. I can honestly say I’ve never just done something for money; I’d be really embarrassed for something like that to come out, that I had no attachment to the character, no attachment to the script. It takes a while before you’re only working with the best directors, nobody’s career is flawless.”
Fantastic Four (stylized as Fantast4c) stars Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Toby Kebbell, Reg E. Cathey, and Tim Blake Nelson.
