Your thinking is correct; we’re really not supposed to see the Star Trek Beyond trailer until its official debut in front of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but…well, HERE IT IS! Yes, it’s in German – seeing as this particular trailer debuted in Germany before a German speaking audience – but the overdub is satisfactory, and regardless of the language barrier (unless the Germans conquered colonized space in the time between Star Trek: Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond), we can pretty much piece together what’s happening to the intrepid crew of the USS Enterprise!
What’s happening? Well, it looks like the integrity of the USS Enterprise has been severely compromised. Wait, let me restate that: it looks like the integrity of the USS Enterprise has been LETHALLY compromised. Amidst the unexpected disassembling of our favorite space-faring flagship of the United Federation of Planets, a select number of our most beloved crew-mates managed to escape the mysteriously conceived destruction and flee to a seemingly uncivilized environment. How uncivilized? I get this feeling they may be sold into the intergalactic slave trade. I realize I could be completely wrong; they could simply be forced to mine for dilithium crystals (or some suchness), but I’m attempting to divine this from 1 minute and 24 seconds of footage in a foreign language. Well, foreign to me because I chose Spanish over German in High School. Anyway, cut me some freaking slack!
It’s also worth noting the female alien – potentially an ally – is an apparent master of space karate. EEEYOUCH!
YAY! Star Trek Beyond!
Debuting on July 22, 2016, Star Trek Beyond stars Chris Pine as Captain James T.
