It looks like the David Ayer film has some international staying power! Perhaps Rotten Tomatoes doesn’t translate all that well into other languages or maybe their critics aren’t as harsh? Joking aside, Suicide Squad performing financially better than Batman V Superman is an interesting outcome all things considered. Funny that a group full of misfits would have more global draw than the Dark Knight and the Last Son of Krypton. I wonder if that is ‘Joker Ha-Ha’ funny?

On the domestic front of things, Suicide Squad lost its foothold in the United States due to Sausage Party. That means that Suicide Squad has suffered a 67% drop from last week. To put things in prospective, BvS suffered a 69% drop-off during the same point. Suicide Squad pulled in around 43.77 million dollars this past weekend. Still, not much a surprise there considering that the critical response may have hurt the chances of Suicide Squad performing better.

You can just have Slipknot’s t-shirt. I don’t think he will mind.

However, Suicide Squad is crushing it over-seas. Not on the level of ‘Warcraft in China’ scale but getting there! Over the weekend, Suicide Squad managed to pull in 58.7 million dollars over several markets. That brings the global total to 465.4 million dollars. In Argentina, Suicide Squad now has the largest August opener ever. In the United Kingdom and Australia, it retains its number one movie spot. Over in Italy, Suicide Squad has made 20% more than Batman V Superman. It seems the soothsayers projecting the death of the DC Cinematic Universe might be a little early!

Suicide Squad is out now and stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. Also stars Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Jay Hernandez as Diablo, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, and Cara Delevingne as the Enchantress.
