Madness is soon upon us…Suicide Squad is PG-13! The above video is the latest spot for DC Comics’ villain-centric movie and it features some new and old footage. New footage includes a better look at the Joker, Harley Quinn being provocative, more Deadshot, and more Enchantress! It also seems like there will be some jokes and the tone might be a little lighter than some might have expected. Just look at how the Enchantress makes that Men-In-Black looking fella squirm. My guess is that particle-smoke effect is throwing him off and you know what? That’s fair enough! The real surprise is that we’ve also seen the movie’s rating; Suicide Squad is PG-13!
Many had expected Suicide Squad to be an R-Rated film for the level of violence and Jared Leto’s Joker tattoos. Actually, I would have thought those tattoos an automatic R-Rating but I guess not. Several movies ago, DC Producer Charles Roven said in an interview with EW, “I think right now we’re going for the PG-13. I don’t know that that’s going to materially change. We can give that movie the edge that it needs and still maintain a PG-13.” If anything, it seems profanity has the biggest effect when it comes to a movie’s R-Rating. The Dark Knight was PG-13 and I don’t think anybody really complained about that, no? Then again, maybe we can just expect an R-Rated cut with extra footage down the line! (grumble)
Suicide Squad starts blowing up the place on August 5th, 2016 and stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, and Cara Delevingne.
