5 Unanswered Questions We’re Dying To Know About The Mandalorian

With the success of the first season of The Mandalorian comes a myriad of unanswered questions that fans have lost countless hours of sleep over. Because the coronavirus has caused delays in production for a variety of shows everywhere, it may still be a while before we even get answers to the burning questions we have. Still, it doesn’t hurt to overthink them and torture ourselves some more, does it?

Created and produced by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian still has a lot to unveil in the second season, and here are five of the most pressing issues we just can’t wait to know more about.

1. Who in blazes is The Armorer?

As the apparent leader of the Nevarro Mandalorian group, The Armorer proved that she is the epitome of awesomeness, with her commanding presence and top notch fighting skills. She stayed behind to protect our fleeing heroes selflessly, and her true identity is shrouded in mystery. But who exactly is the woman under the helmet? Why does Din Djarin report to her? Why does she have the authority to decide the medals that our protagonist should have? And what happened to her after the heroes fled and left her behind?

2. Why does Gideon want The Child?

Yes, we all fell in love with Baby Yoda ever since we laid eyes on it, but while it’s adorable as heck, we’re still not sure who or what it actually is. We know that The Child is force sensitive, but what was Gideon going to do with it? How did he know that Baby Yoda was out there at all? And how did The Child get to be so darn cute?

3. Who was that guy from Episode 5?

When Din’s bounty hunting mishaps landed him with a target on Tattooine, it didn’t exactly end the way he had hoped. Episode 5 did, however, end with a geek-tastic mystery, leaving fans speculating the wildest theories as to whose boot it was that cameoed in the last few frames. Could it actually be Boba Fett with his rather distinctive jangling boots? And could the assassin Fennec (Ming-Na Wen) still be alive?

4. What exactly happened to Mandalore in the past?

Apparently, the Imperial Rule didn’t exactly give the people of Mandalore better lives according to the show’s flashbacks. The Empire has fallen, but why is a group of Mandalorians still in hiding on a distant planet? Why did the Mandalorians flee? What happened during the occupation, and why does Moff Gideon have the Darksaber? Why does he know Din Djarin’s real name?

5. What’s going on in the New Republic?

Speaking of the fall of the Empire, how well is the New Republic doing so far? The Mandalorian is set after Return of the Jedi (five years after, to be exact), so things may or may not have settled down by now. Still, since we know that the Republic doesn’t last long, what kind of political struggles are going on in the background? Knowing about the political climate should provide us with a better understanding and context of the world our main protagonist is forced to deal with throughout his journey.
