You wanted it, you got it! The idea of a Punisher spinoff series was being bandied about by esteemed Marvel creators after Jon Bernthal’s hypnotizing portrayal of psychologically distraught ex-soldier, Frank Castle. Yes, he showed up in Daredevil Season 2 and beguiled us all with his immensely dark, immensely twisted, and immensely accurate portrayal of a soldier whose war never truly ended, especially when the body count included his family. So, a Punisher spinoff series was discussed, considered, but remained “up in the air” so to speak…until now. Our friends at Entertainment Weekly just spilled the beans: Netflix Punisher series confirmed! Check out this teaser video presented by the Netflix US twitter page pre-confirming the confirmation!

A few more details revealed about the forthcoming series:
1. Hannibal writer/executive producer Steve Lightfoot will serve as showrunner. Have you seen Hannibal? If you haven’t, you really, really need to. If we see any hint of that particular aesthetic on the Punisher series, we’re in for a treat.
2. Punisher’s narrative might bleed into the eventual Defenders series. Will he be the impetus behind their formation? Perhaps the target of their collective dismay? Or perhaps he’ll be a more affable Punisher, happy to lend a hand to a team overpowered by some currently unidentified collection of villainy.
Ready for the Punisher?
Locked. Loaded. Ready. Aim. FIRE!
