So, when we first met Robin Lord Taylor’s character of the Penguin during the first season of Gotham, he was playing both sides of the gangster’s turf war. When the dust finally settled, the Penguin had lordship over the criminal underworld of Gotham. To complete his character’s transformation, one of the pivotal moments from the first season was repeated but in an inverse fashion. Remember when Jim Gordon was tasked with executing the Penguin for his betrayal, but the honorable Gordon faked Cobblepot’s death and Cobblepot owed Jim a favor? Now it looks like the shoe is on the other foot with this exclusive trailer from Entertainment Weekly! Who would have ever thought that the Penguin would be such an interesting character!
Gotham Season 2 is set to start on September 21st and stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, David Mazouz, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, Zabryna Guevara, Sean Pertwee, Camren Bicondova, Cory Michael Smith, Morena Baccarin, Michael Chiklis, and Drew Powell. Are you as excited as we are to see where they go with this exciting series? I feel like Robin Lord Taylor’s Penguin is one of the best aspects of the show and this scene certainly highlights his ability to completely consume a scene. Hopefully, we will get to see plenty of the Penguin…and I bet nobody would have ever thought of writing that years ago (unless we are talking about Danny DeVito. I still want him to come back).
