3 Characters We Would Love to See in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

When James Gunn was asked, “Have you started on GOTG 3 yet? Any kind of planning going on or is it all Peacemaker for now?”, he happily replied that the “Script is written and most of the production heads have been hired” according to a recent Tweet. We obviously can’t wait to grab any kind of news we can get our hands on regarding casting and the plot for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3! While everything has been halted recently due to the pandemic, a handful of films are already starting to pick up following proper safety protocols. Without any solid news as of the moment, wouldn’t it still be cool to wish these three characters will show up in the third Guardians film soon?

  1.  Moondragon

Heather Douglas is the daughter of Arthur Douglas, who, as not a lot of people might know, is the human alter-ego of Drax the Destroyer. While the movies have Drax going around on a revenge-filled rampage and a one-man mission to kill Thanos for his family’s sake, the comics actually took a different route. They were driving peacefully as a family one day when Thanos’ spaceship landed along the side of the road. To make sure that he eliminated any witnesses, Thanos crushed their car because he’s just a big purple bully.

Heather survived somehow, and she was raised on Titan by Thanos’ father, Mentor (oh, the irony). As Moondragon, Heather has minor telekinesis, is a skilled geneticist, and is both a master telepath and an expert martial artist.  The movies will obviously have to switch things up and alter her origin story if she’s to be included in the film, but with just a little bit of tweaking, we could possibly see Drax reuniting with his daughter. Get those facial tissues ready!

2.  Phyla-Vell

Phyla-Vell first appeared in the Annhiliation event during the mid-2000s, but since the 2008 run was one of the source materials that James Gunn drew influences from, it’s possible that we might see her as Quasar in the upcoming film. Interestingly enough, she has also gone by the name of Captain Marvel, being the second child of Mar-Vell, the original Captain.

3.  Adam Warlock

Fans have been waiting for this since forever, because why tease his appearance in the Vol. 2 post-credits scene with Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) and that cocoon? Adam Warlock is the product of the Enclave who wanted to create the perfect human being. He featured prominently in the Infinity Gauntlet comic book series, but was completely left out in the version from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s anybody’s guess as to how he’ll show up, but we do know he will (and he should), so here’s hoping it’ll be in Vol. 3, please!
