According to sources over at Variety, the hotly anticipated Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is still considered a ‘high stakes bet’. Why? Apparently BvS needs 800 million in order to turn a profit! Now that is considered a bit on the high end of things, but Batman V Superman has a rumored production cost of around 250 million with 150 million in advertising so right there you have 400 million already tied up! To quote that old guy from Jurassic Park, ‘we spared no expense’.
Doug Creutz (an analyst with Cowen and Co) said,“It would be a slight exaggeration to say everything is riding on this film. But if they can’t make this sale to audiences, then they have a huge problem. They have told Wall Street they are going to grow earnings at Warner Bros. If you can’t make that franchise work, then you can’t achieve that goal.” Some say that it would be considered a disappointment if Batman V Superman doesn’t make 1 billion dollars which really shows you how far we’ve come when it comes to superhero movies. Suddenly we need a movie to make a billion dollars for it to be considered a success! Still, if BvS needs 800 million to turn a profit I’m sure it will get that. How can you possibly go wrong with having Batman and Superman on the same screen? Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice opens up on March 25th, 2016 and stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Gal Gadot.
