Here it is, the new teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story straight from today’s installment of Good Morning America! Exciting!

And you were probably already excited due to the ten second teaser (for the teaser) that was released on youtube yesterday. On top of a date unveiled, there was a three second glimpse into a new looking Stormtrooper, which is wearing a black helmet we have previously seen… just not in a Star Wars film (it’s the one on the far left).

Neato helms of the evil Empire!

Today’s trailer is our first look at the Star Wars spin-off movie, which is apparently a Rebel heist movie centered around the story of Rebel Soldiers stealing the original Death Star plans. While the exact time-frame the movie takes place in isn’t known, Rogue One will fit in somewhere between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

There has been plenty of speculation about who could appear in Rogue One, including appearances by both Darth Vader and Boba Fett. While a Sith Lord could have a role in the movie, it’s not rumored to be a Force-heavy film, instead showing a different, more realistic side of the rebellion. Could there be a TV connection?  I mean, there’s even been talks regarding possible connections to Disney XD’s Star Wars Rebels, but once again, even after the teaser trailer, we known next to nothing.

The gang’s all here!

What we do know is that Gareth Edwards is directing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which will be released on December 16, 2016.  It stars Felicity Jones as a Rebel fighter (prominently displayed in the teaser), Ben Mendelsohn as the film’s main villain, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk (in a possible CGI performance). There could be plenty of other famous Star Wars characters and big cameos on the horizon, so hopefully we get a taste of that in the first full-blown trailer.

So, what did you think? Pretty awesome, right? There’s a refreshing realism here that is especially enthralling.
