Here’s the third trailer for director Justin Lin’s Fast and the Furious in Space! Wait, let’s try that again. Here’s the third Star Trek Beyond Trailer – perhaps the last Star Trek Beyond Trailer – featuring a heck of a lot more action and flagrant Enterprise destruction. Yep, it looks like the crew of the USS Enterprise is summarily space-‘effed due to a crazy, unrelenting swarm of aggressive, hull-penetrating alien vessels.
This new Star Trek Beyond trailer starts with a self-deprecating Captain Kirk reflecting on his reasons for becoming a space-captain; it was all predicated on a dare. Is that the length and breadth of his Starfleet career? A sequence of ego-filling displays and disingenuous one-upmanship?
Cut to the complete destruction of the Enterprise by forces unknown, the crew’s escape, survival on a hostile environment, a veritable, Michael Bay-inspired series of massive explosions and….some crappy song by someone named Rihanna which has no business being on a Star Trek soundtrack.
