Well, here is it; our very first look at Wally West, aka Kid Flash, in costume. If you’re an avid watcher of The Flash TV series, and/or a knowledgeable Flash comic book reader, you know that anyone bearing the name Wally West is destined to inherit the specific, Speed-Force-induced power-set, and receive familial tutorials thanks to experienced Speed-Force wielder, Barry Allen. Well, thanks to The CW, we’re now aware that Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) receives his super-speed, takes on the mantle of Kid Flash, and dresses appropriately. Check it out!
Now, this costume is hitting all the right buttons. In the comics, Kid Flash/Wally West was a red-headed Caucasian whose Aunt was Iris Allen, wife to Forensic Scientist, Barry Allen. Spending a great deal of time with his Aunt due to familial contention, Barry and Wally became “fast” friends (see what I did there?). Later, Wally succumbed the very same accident that merged Barry with the Speed-Force, so, yes, he fell under Barry’s tutelage and became Kid Flash. Here’s the Kid’s original costume. Notice the beauteous similarities!
Now, we shouldn’t set our expectations too high. After all, The Flash Season 3 is entitled “Flashpoint,” meaning Wally’s “ascension” to Kid Flash is probably relegated to an alternate timeline. Because the comic book “Flashpoint” story had to do with alternate timelines created by an incredibly selfish Barry Allen who affected the “prime” continuity by reversing his mother’s death. Thanks, Barry.
