Yes, we know Ghost Rider will be the big draw for Agents of SHIELD Season 4; Robert “Robbie” Reyes will be possessed of a certain Spirit of Vengeance, running over netherworld-rummaging ne’er-do-wells with his equally possessed, demonically tricked-out Dodge Charger. Yes, this is all well, good, and impossible to ignore (considering the eerie, combustible cranium), but…what about last season’s darlings, the Inhumans? Well, according to our friends at i09 – who recently interviewed AoS producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen – the Inhumans will definitely be returning next season. And, not only are they returning, the producers intimated a new freedom with the characters, leading to the potential presentation of classic Inhumans characters.
“We’ve told a couple of seasons of stories but now we do have some more freedom,” explained Whedon. “So when we return to focusing on Inhumans, we’ll be able to do a little bit more.”
Now, even though the Inhumans movie was removed from its original 6/12/2019 release date and unceremoniously placed on the “we don’t know what we’re doing but it’s still happening” list, it is…still happening. So, I wouldn’t expect to see Blackbolt or Medusa show up. But….how about Karnak? Maybe he can see the faults in Seasons 1 & 2, and then destroy them. OUCH!
Agents of SHIELD returns to ABC on September 20th, so…PREPARE YOURSELVES!
