AMC Preacher Trailer

Coming to an AMC near you, Garth Ennis’ Preacher was adapted by Seth Rogen and stars Howard Stark, err, Dominic Cooper as the main character, Jesse Custer. I don’t want to put out too many spoilers from the comic book, but let’s just say that Mr. Cooper will be going on both a physical journey and a metaphysical one…and maybe both at the same time. Oh, what’s that? You have an immensely powerful soul bound to you? Is that something you can sleep off?

The tone of this trailer is pretty sweet and even at a minute and change, you at least get a thematic view of where this new AMC series might go. That whole bit with Dominic Cooper leaning in and saying, ‘Well how bad do you want him hurt?’ and then going into detail was almost a twisted version of a sermon, and you know what? I think it works insanely well for a show called ‘Preacher’! I’ll be watching this when it airs in mid-2016, that’s for sure!

Preacher, the comic book released through DC’s mature readers’ imprint, Vertigo, was created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon, featuring immersive and impressionistic covers by Glenn Fabry. Preacher lasted 60 issues, detailing the exploits of conflicted Texas preacher, Jesse Custer. These aforementioned exploits were definitely a bit beyond the norm, as Jesse found himself infused– involuntarily and at the cost of his entire parish– with the all-powerful, especially persuasive being known as Genesis. Jesse also found himself partnered with the cantankerous Irish Vampire, Cassidy, and his one-time girlfriend, Tulip, who excelled in the art of making-out…and extreme violence.

Are you ready for the live-action, TV interpretation of Preacher? Yes? No? Undecided? If your answer is, “No,” or, “Undecided,” please take some time to relay your opinion to Jesse Custer. He just might change your mind.
