On the heels of casting creepy-in-appearance Iwan Rheon in the role of Maximus for the forthcoming Inhumans series, our good friends at EW granted us some additional, inspiring casting news. It seems ABC and Marvel Entertainment recently granted the role of Black Bolt, king of The Inhumans, to actor Anson Mount of Hell on Wheels fame.
The popular, immensely powerful, mostly-silent-until-he-has-to-destroy-a-mountain leader of the Inhumans is described by the network as “the commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city.” That sounds accurate.
Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television, shared his enthusiasm regarding the casting: “Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently. His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”
“Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life,” added showrunner Scott Buck.
So, to recap how ABC will present the series:
The first two episodes will debut in IMAX theaters starting September 1st, and the series will continue through your TV — and ABC — on September 26th.
That’s Black Bolt and Maximus. Have any actors in mind for the rest of the cast? Share your choices, and then take a gander at ours.
