One of the most impressive things at this year’s E3 was the sheer line to play the latest Link-centered game from Nintendo. The above video, the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild E3 Trailer, shows off the Wii U version of Link’s latest outing. Worry not though; it will also be appearing on the secretive next project of Nintendo, the mysterious Nintendo NX. What does the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild E3 Trailer show? How about our central protagonist exploring a non-linear world and engaging in hunting, trapping, exploring, wall-climbing, and what appears to be tradeskills.

I’ve been seeing the nickname ‘The Zelder Scrolls’ floating around after seeing the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild E3 Trailer and it seems like that is a safe assumption. The Zelda games have often been very linear so it will be interesting to see Link play around in a world that is completely open! Makes me wonder if there will be +100 hours of sidequests; I’m looking at you Skyrim and Witcher series! I think it is also a safe assumption that we’ll be seeing some new weapons like a spear and what appears to be a club. Let’s just hope that we get to see a return of fan-favorites like the boomerang, hookshot, and red candle! We haven’t see those candles in quite some time, no?

As per the video’s description, “Step into a world of discovery, exploration and adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a boundary-breaking new game in the acclaimed series. Travel across fields, through forests and to mountain peaks as you discover what has become of the ruined kingdom of Hyrule in this stunning open-air adventure.” Hopefully Link learns some tricks from the Greybeards. Nothing would warm my heart more than seeing some ‘FUS-RO-DAH’ on Ganon somewhere along the line.
