Wait, did Leeroy Jenkins’ guild come up with this figure? Apparently computer scientists have a lot of time on their hands and have crafted an algorithm that determines whether or not a movie will make a profit of at least 7 million dollars. Their current target? The latest opus from Zack Snyder and Warner Brothers! The conclusion? Batman V Superman only has a 32% chance to make a profit?! Thems’ fighting words, isn’t it?

This is probably why that guy was yelling 'NERDS!'

According to the source, “Utilizing data from 2,506 films released from 2000 – 2010, the program analyzes budgets, casts, directors, date of release and more to come up with the chances of a movie earning a profit of at least $7.3 million at the box office, a number the researchers determined studio executives might reasonably expect in return on their investment.” Michael Lash, one of the fancy pants PhD students who came up with the program then added, “”Movies that sell better at the box office may also need bigger investments. Thus they do not necessarily provide satisfactory returns for investors.” Ouch. I think 32% is a little pessimistic but something tells me that the Man of Steel might be re-opening his chiropractor office. We also wonder if the program is named ‘Brainiac’!
